For admission into the AOS, it is desirable but not mandatory for candidates to have completed either an undergraduate major in computer or information technology or an equivalent. Recognizing, however, that the interest as well as practical experience in cyber forensics may emerge from a wide variety of undergraduate backgrounds, the AOS will have a reasonably flexible policy concerning preparation required for admission, namely, that candidates lacking some of the prerequisites but otherwise well qualified may be admitted on the condition that they take certain additional prerequisite courses.
